The page on the Ruger website, stated that my new Single Six does not exist! It's a 66- prefixed serial.supposedly from 1979.but nope. One of the first things I needed to know, is it's 'birthday'. But as I am 'anal retentive' (according to my wife), I 'needed' to know everything about this model, and the actual piece, so a LOT of night time reading went into it so far. Anyway.this old SS came to me in a form of a Father's Day present, and it needed some urgent help to bring it back to it's original condition (still working on it). I own MANY weapons (since I've been in the uniform for 25 years in many different theaters, many things 'followed me home'), but I never had a single action Ruger (plenty of other brands though, DAs from S&W, SAs from Remington, etc.). It was given to me as a Father's Day present (a month or so ago), by my son in law (yup, my daughter married a 'gun nut', just like her old man is). Original post in this thread prompted me to post something about my experience with my Single Six (as far as it's 'pedigree').
I am new on this forum, but far from 'new' as a whole.
